| Welcome to 🍏Lunch n Learn with Lindsay🍏 Issue 249. One of my gorgeous birthday presents from Malcolm is a world map. We spent a glorious afternoon last week adding pins to it showing all the places we’d been to… Whilst most of the pins show places we’ve been to together (eeek 33 years of marriage is coming up, 18 years of which we’ve worked together as Co-Founders at Your Excellency Limited!), some we’ve done individually, some have been for work, some for holiday, some a perfect combo! And I’d say between us we are both pretty well travelled. However, seeing the completed map (so far!) has made me realise there are sooooo many places we haven’t ventured to and which need to feature on our bucket list. Our extensive travel plus living and working in France and the USA (lots of 📌📌📌pins here!) means we are aware of cultural differences which in turn means we welcome learners from around the world acknowledging these cultural nuances. We’ve welcomed learners to our The Mini MBA for Senior & Executive Assistants and The Essential PA Programme from all over the world – Africa, the Caribbean, France, Greece, Germany, America, Australia and New Zealand included. And of course, when we have a culturally-mixed Cohort it’s a fantastic experience for our learners to learn from each other about cultural norms and how things work in the EA/PA profession in different countries adding a whole new layer of learning to our Programmes. And if we’re offered work in another country, I always jump at the opportunity to learn from my learners and to experience another country and culture (📌 at the ready!). “I haven’t been everywhere, but it’s on my list”says Susan Sontag. And I’m most definitely with Susan on this sentiment as today’s issue has been penned from Cape Town, South Africa where I’m enjoying a combo of work and holiday fun. What have you learned from your travels? And where are you putting your next pin on the world map? |
