Lunch and Learn with Lindsay – Issue 91 : Rapport : Me, Myself & I – Internal Dialogue & Enabling Beliefs

Welcome to a continuation of our series on “rapport” and my belief that we need to start with “me, myself and I” if we are to create, develop and maintain the best connection and relationship – with ourselves and others.

If you missed the first two messages in this #LunchNLearnWithLindsay series, you can read them here.

Optimising communication – with Me, Myself and I
Internal Dialogue and Enabling Beliefs

Let’s consider those “little voices in your head”, namely your internal dialogue…we all have them!

It’s important to notice when the voices in your head are talking and then take control of these voices (as if we have a personal remote control in hand).

We can pause the voices, we can turn down the volume and, more importantly, we can “reprogramme” these voices.

We can reprogramme the things we are saying to ourselves that are limiting beliefs (things we believe to be true that will limit us from achieving to our full potential) to something much more useful.

We can presuppose something to be true and hold “enabling beliefs” that will enable us and help us to achieve things and to ensure we have the very best rapport with ourselves.

Enabling beliefs are inspirational, powerful and motivational – they can help us “unlock” our thinking and to be curious about a situation so we can get a different perspective.

We can hold a belief to be true in certain situations to help ourselves and others – to enable us to move forward and achieve our objectives, goals and outcomes.

We can experiment with our own thinking and this can give us flexibility in our feelings and behaviours.  At times when we feel stuck or confused with a situation we are faced with, we can hold an enabling belief.

How will you change your internal dialogue and include more enabling beliefs?

Consider the folowing Top 10 Enabling Beliefs.
