Lunch and Learn with Lindsay – Issue 207: Winning!

Welcome to this week’s 🍏Lunch n Learn with Lindsay🍏

How was your weekend?

Mine “kicked off” on Saturday morning with a leisurely breakfast at The Genting Hotel (Resorts World in Birmingham) after attending Friday night’s West Midlands PA Awards 2024 (WMPAA2024).  It was a fantastic roaring 20s themed evening with glitz, glamour and celebrations galore and, if you haven’t experienced the hotel, I can highly recommend it too.

For any winners of WMPAA2024 reading this, CONGRATULATIONS! You should be very proud of your achievements. As a Judge I know there was an impressive calibre of entrants.  I also know that those of who weren’t crowned a winner or highly commended will be feeling an element of disappointment (like me when I didn’t win Service Provider of the Year for The Office Management Awards). As will, of course, our England football team who (in the words of a BBC Radio 2 DJ this morning) “will be on a plane in pain coming back from Spain”!  I don’t normally “watch the football” but joined Malcolm and Lottie last night to cheer on our team.  They played well but I do echo many who acknowledge Spain was the better team throughout the whole competition.

I’m sure there will be some thoughtful feedback shared amongst the England football team as they identify what went well, what didn’t go so well and how they can improve individually and as a team.  Feedback is crucial for continuous improvement and you can read my archive Lunch n Learn 92 here on the value of feedback particularly “feedback to self”.

I was reminded of an article that Malcolm wrote for Executive Support Magazine on teamwork highlighting the Truckman Model of Group Development and what makes a “Dream Team”. You can read this here.
