| I LOVE old books – the faded cover, the yellowing pages, the musty smell. Last year’s antique book Christmas gift from Malcolm was “Anna and the King of Siam” (alongside tickets to see “The King and I” on stage in London). This gift inspired my “Getting to Know You” blog post here. This year’s antique book Christmas gift got me thinking too and it has inspired this post. I didn’t realise Lear (famed for The Owl & The Pussy Cat and limericks galore) was primarily an artist – did you? As a draughtsman he was employed to make illustrations of birds and animals, and he even gave drawing lessons to Queen Victoria. It got me to thinking about the often lesser-known or hidden talents of you, the EAs and PAs I know, talents that extend beyond your EA/PA skillsets, that ensure you’re not just defined by your profession. So, what hidden or lesser-known talents that extend beyond your role do you have? And when you complete your Personal SWOT (that’s your reminder that this month is a great time to do this exercise!), what strengths, successes and achievements can you identify that are outside the capabilities of being an EA/PA? Here’s the link with all the info on conducting a Personal SWOT. |
