Lunch and Learn with Lindsay – Issue 9: F is for Feedback Training Video

On Friday afternoon I prepared a lovely note to our Business Friends and my contacts who are PA Network owners letting them know about our “TRAIN NOW PAY LATER!” scheme and reminding them we can pay a referral fee to them for any booked for, paid for business we receive as a result of their recommendation.

BUT instead of sending this mail out to this selective list – I sent to everyone on ALL our lists including YOU! ARGH! And when that moment of realisation at what I’d done hit me I felt physically sick, I put my head in my hands and groaned “NO!”.  And I was so CROSS with myself.  I stomped around the office, I let Malcolm (my husband and co-Director) know what I’d done and then I decided to slam my laptop lid and call it a day.  I put the white wine in the fridge to chill for the evening.

For the next 20 mins or so I rallied between huffing and puffing in dismay at my mistake and weighing up the fact that really, on the scale of things going on in the world right now, it wasn’t all that bad. I’m human – we all make mistakes.  I needed to pay heed to my own advice. I’d owned up to making a mistake with Malcolm, I’m owning up to making a mistake with you and I’m now going to learn from it.

How many times do I share with clients “There is no failure, only feedback” as a useful mantra?  It was time to use this myself and to work through my favourite feedback models to give myself valuable advice on what my learning has been (and believe me folks, there was lots of feedback!).

I then got excited at the fact that I had a training video prepped that was perfect to send to you all, the content of which will be really useful, especially if you ever find yourself in the same situation as me.  We’re only human after all.

With apologies and my best wishes

With regards
Lindsay
