There is a “Hip Hip Hooray” card ready for Lottie’s return from school this evening and I’ve suggested a relaxing evening, watching one of my favourite films “Sliding Doors” (1998) with Gwyneth Paltrow. This film alternates between two storylines, showing two paths the lead character’s life could take depending on whether she catches a train. I LOVE the iconic London backdrop. I LOVE the nod to “Cleopatra’s Nose Theory”. Have you heard of this Theory? It is attributed to Blaise Pascal, a 17th Century French mathematician physicist, inventor, philosopher and Catholic writer who famously said “Cleopatra’s nose, had it been shorter, the whole face of the world would have changed”. You see, in Cleopatra’s time, a long nose symbolised strength of character. According to www.thedrum.com*, “Pascal believed that without that, Cleopatra would have been unable to rule.
