In my last issue I let you know that I’ve updated my book “A-Z Pearls of Wisdom for Executive PAs”.
One of the changes I’ve made to the original 2015 publication is in Chapter G.
In 2015 this was “G is for Gatekeper”.
In 2022 this is “G is for Gateway”.
You might think this is an interesting update and I wanted to explain my reasons for this.
A PA acting as a Gatekeeper protects their Executive from unwanted interruptions, which means the Executive can focus on achieving their goals.
Whilst an important element of the PA role, for me the term Gatekeeper conjurs up connotations of a sternness and negativity.
A PA acting as a Gateway helps the flow of information between their Executive and stakeholders. This encourages relationships and connections that ultimately contribute to the organisation’s culture and success.
For me the term Gatekeepr conjurs up connotations of positivity.
