I am hitting “send” on today’s issue from my hotel room as I’m on a much-needed break away. Having met ALL my deadlines on Friday, I’m feeling pretty smug about being where I want to be with my ongoing projects.
I am slowing the pace this week from my usual “whirlwind” energy so when Facebook memories this morning brought up a post from 2018, I was rather amused at it being so apt.
So amused in fact that I’m sharing it with you as your “food for thought” content today…and I’ve included a quote from my book Chapter R : Red Lorry, Yellow Lorry (how to work quickly and efficiently without getting tongue tied). This week you will find me stepping off the train, being more mindful and enjoying the scenery!
They’re everywhere!
Articles, blog posts, advice and invitations to training that will help you become more productive and a time management guru!
Actually, even I’ve got on the productivity-train – no, make that productivity-bullet-train (it’s faster 🚅) – with a scheduled post of simple hacks and advice.
But, hang on a minute….it’s got me to thinking 🤔
We’re living and working in a fast-paced society with the need for instant gratification – information can be shared at the touch of a button with the potential to go viral, to inspire and motivate for good or to disgruntle or harm for bad.
We’re caught up in the speed and the expectation of getting things done right now which may result in mounting pressure on ourselves as we strive to be better, faster, more efficient, more productive …..
Is this need for an instant fast-paced ‘slickness’ of operation fuelling the productivity-bullet-train? Do we need to be on that train all the time? Can’t we just slow things down a bit and chuff along a bit more mindfully and enjoy the scenery? 🚂 Or get off at the station to enjoy a cup of tea at the station cafe? ☕️
(Musings tapped out on my phone whilst heading into London on a train)
