I was sorting through the photos on my iPhone this weekend and this lovely photo of my daughter, Lottie, aged 7, really made me smile. She was curious to find out whether “bluebells” were like real bells with an audible “ding-a-ling” as she gently tapped them!
I love the natural curiosity of children and their energy and excitement for learning as they explore the world around them. We tend to lose this as we get older don’t we? We often accept the status quo (which interestingly is the opposite of true leaders who challenge the status quo). Dare I say we may be disillusioned by life and its many challenges. Or maybe we’re too “busy” and caught up in our day-to-day “doing” at the detriment of spending quality time pondering, thinking and being curious.
I’m vocal about encouraging our learners to “act their shoe size, not their age” by asking questions galore during out training sessions, to reignite their “love for learning” and to foster curiosity. You may remember a blog post I issued on this topic – if you haven’t read it, the link is here.
Here at your Excellency we believe “no question is a silly question”. We encourage you to think about the new theories, models and strategies we introduce and identify how you will apply them to benefit you, your Executive and your organisation.
What will you be curious about today? What will you question? What can and will you learn at the start of this week to benefit you, your Executive and your organisation? (And imagine if those gorgeous bluebells had an audible “ding-a-ling”!)
